Vermicelli Murukku (Jantikalu)


  • vermicelli - 1/2 cup
  • rice flour - 2 cups
  • oil - deep fry
  • red chilli powder - 1 Tb spn
  • salt - tasty
  • turmeric - 1/2 T spn
  • ajwain - 1 tb spn
  • hot oil - 1/4 cup


Step 1

soak vermicelli for 30 minutes by adding 1 cup water for 1/2 cup of vermicelli

Step 2

after 30 minutes mash the vermicelli into fine paste. take the vermicelli paste in to a deep bowl and keep aside. add the rice flour to the vermicelli paste then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt , ajwain and hot oil and mix well then finally add little cold water and make a dough (like murukku dough) keep aside for 10 minutes.

Step 3

take chakli maker (chakrala maker) place the three holes plate, greeze the maker with small amount of oil Now fill the dough into chakli maker (3/4 the level) and now the filled chakli maker is ready to make chakli.

Step 4

take a kadai het oil for deep fry then press the chakli maker as per your required shape (like chakli) and fry until the chakli changes to brown colour and repeat the steps.

Step 5

thats all your vermicelli murukku is ready to serve these are good for 1 month to store.
