Challa Punugulu Recipe (చల్ల పునుగులు)

Ingredients

  • All purpose flour (maida)- 1 cup
  • Sour curd - 1 cup
  • Baking powder or cooking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • salt as per taste
  • Oil - for deep fry
  • Water 1 glass

Method

Step 1

Take a deep bowl and add maida, Add salt, cumin, and baking powder, Add curd, by mixing these please make a tight batter initially after few minutes (5 to 10 minutes), add water little little to make a consistency which is useful to do the punugulu and rest for minimum 30 minutes and keep aside.

Step 2

Heat oil for deep fry and parallel check the batter consistency will be like this looking fluffy. also take a paper napkin before frying of the punugulu

Step 3

check the heat of the oil by keeping your hand on top of the oil (in distance please) and Drop like small balls and fry the punugulu in a flame medium and when the punugulu turns to your required colour take out the punugulu and place in a paper napkid to remove the excess oil from the punuguluthats it your traditional Challa punugulu recipe ready to serve hot with chutney
