chakkera pongali (చక్కెర పొంగలి)
- Rice- ¼ kg
- Jaggery- ¼ kg
- Ghee- 100 gram
- Moong dal- 100 gram
- Green cardamom – 3 Nos
- Boiled milk- ½ litter
- Cashew nuts- 10 Nos
In a Pan Melt ghee, add moong dal and fry for 3 minutes, add rice, then add milk ½ liter and water 1 liter, cook until the rice is half cooked then add ghee little by little and cook,
Check rice for 70% cooked or not if it was done add Jaggery and cook for 5 minutes, after that add cashew nuts then add ghee continue cook until the rice was done as per your requirement (soft or hard)
Take out from the pan and serve hot by garnishing with the cashew nuts
I am sure that this recipe is very good to cook and this was made especially on the festival Pongal
