Amla Dal Recipe


  • Amla – 4 Nos (Chopped in to Small Pieces)
  • Toor Dal – 100 Grams
  • Onion – 1 No (to Be chopped)
  • Green Chillies – 4 Nos
  • Tamarind – Small
  • Ghee – 1 Tb Spoon
  • Garlic – 4 Cloves
  • Cumin – ½ T Spoon
  • Mustard Seeds – ½ T Spoon
  • Curry Leaves – 2 Bunches
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1 T Spoon
  • Turmeric – ½ T Spoon
  • Salt – Tasty
  • Dry Chillies – 2 Nos
  • Cilantro – 2 Bunches


Step 1

Soak toor dal for 30 Minutes in a cooker and then add chopped onions, Tamarind, green chillies, turmeric, Red Chilli powder and Amla (Make a cuts on the surface and close the lid of cooker and cook for 3 whistles.

Step 2

After 3 whistles wait up to pressure released from the cooker and open the lid and take out the cooked amlas from the cooker and remove the seeds and mash the Amla like a paste and replace the same to cooker and add salt and Mash all the Dal as a usually we do for the normal Dal recipes.

Step 3

-------------- Seasoning the Dal ---------- Take a seasoning pan and add ghee and heat then add the mustard seeds, cumin, garlic cloves, chopped onions, amla pieces, curry leaves, red chillies and then fry for 2 minutes

Step 4

Now add the above seasoning to the Amla Dal and mix well This Dal recipe is a special receipe and usually it can be done in the season of Amla availability
